Panasonic NN-CT579S Features

The Panasonic NN-CT579S microwave is a combination model. That means it is a standard microwave, grill and convection oven in one. Combination microwaves are far more versatile than solo microwaves and are perfect if you either don’t have a regular oven or need extra cooking space (although they usually cost more too).

The NN-CT579S comes with a 1300W grill. The grill can be set to six power levels and three settings for different levels of browning and crisping. The microwave also has a 1375W convection oven, 27 litre capacity, “chaos defrost” setting, automatic programs and a sleek stainless steel design.

Aside from being a stylish microwave, the NN-CT579S is also “slimline.” Panasonic claims that it is up to 20% thinner than other combination microwaves. This might not sound like much, but combination models are usually bulky and require a large amount of surface space.

A great feature of the Panasonic NN-CT579S is that it has an extremely efficient when in power saving mode. In fact, Panasonic claims that the energy saving system means that it only uses a measly 0.1W of power while in standby.

Finally, the Panasonic NN-CT579S slimline combi microwave is built with “inverter technology.” This helps to provide a consistent level of power, resulting in more even cooking.

Overview of NN-CT579S features:

  • Slimline microwave that Panasonic claims is 20% thinner than competing models.
  • Combination microwave with grill, convection oven and microwave oven settings.
  • Grill has three settings and six power levels.
  • 0.1W energy saving mode when in standby.
  • Inverter technology for more even cooking.
  • “Chaos Defrost” setting for rapidly decreasing defrosting times.
  • 13 automatic programs for a variety of foods.

Panasonic NN-CT579S Reviews

Most reviewers seem to be happy with their purchase of the Panasonic NN-CT579S combi microwave. It has a relatively high average rating on shopping sites with hundreds of positive reviews.

A reviewer  describes the Panasonic NN-CT579S as “brilliant.” She adds that it has exactly the same internal capacity of her previous combination microwave, but is considerably smaller overall. This is a major advantage of the model – especially if you have a small kitchen.

Another reviewer writes that the Panasonic NN-CT579S provides excellent performance as both a microwave and convection oven. As a bonus, she thinks that it’s an attractive model that looks great in her kitchen.

There are, however, some negative comments from reviewers. One person writes that the combination oven is linked to the grill element, which means that you can’t use them separately. This has understandably made some buyers angry – as it’s debatable whether the Panasonic NN-CT579S is a “true” convection oven.

Panasonic NN-CT579S Conclusion and Rating

On the surface, the Panasonic NN-CT579S combination microwave is an excellent model. It’s a slim microwave with a range of features, making it a versatile companion in the kitchen.

We would have awarded it a high rating if it wasn’t for the issue of the grill element and convection oven. In our opinion, these should be separated – otherwise the food often burns due to the grill even though you only wanted to cook it with the convection oven. For that reason, we’ve knocked two stars off the “Features” rating, resulting in an overall rating of three stars. If this isn’t an issue for you, however, then the microwave is an excellent choice.

  1. Having read other reviews, it seems that you can use the grill separately but people are putting it on the wrong setting. The feature is in fact great as you can use all settings together or in combination – so maybe you ought to give it those two stars back and read the manual!
