The entire Max 35 series is difficult to buy these days. If you’re looking for a 23 litre model, we recommend the Russell Hobbs RHM2362S instead. Click here for the price for the RHM2362S.
The Whirlpool Max 35 solo and steam microwave, with cream colour scheme, has to be one of the strangest looking models we’ve reviewed. It also has some of the most interesting and innovative features. But does this mix of new design and technology create something truly useful? Or are you better off sticking with a regular microwave? Keep reading our Whirlpool Max 35 review to find out!
Whirlpool Max 35 Features
One of the main advantages of the Whirlpool Max 35 solo microwave is that it’s designed to save space. It can fit a 28cm turntable, but the curved back means that it slides further into a corner.
Another interesting feature of the Whirlpool Max 35 microwave is the “3D distribution system.” This, according to the designers, allows the Whirlpool Max 35 to heat food more evenly than other models. The combination of Jet Defrost and 3D distribution also means that food can be defrosted much quicker (up to seven times faster according to the sales material).
Other features of the Whirlpool Max 35 include an automatic steam accessory, auto control system (for healthy and easy steaming) and Jet Start system. The latter allows you to start the microwave without needing to worry about time, level and power settings separately.
A review of the Whirlpool Max 35 wouldn’t be complete without discussing the product’s design. It features a semi-circle layout, with the rounded back providing a “space age” feel. The front panel has the buttons and clock at the bottom. We have to say that we feel the Whirlpool Max 35 cream design appears rather dated – especially compared to other cream microwaves we’ve reviewed. The “futuristic” design seems based on how people in the 70s thought things would look in the year 2013. We know that some people love the design though – this is definitely a matter of personal taste.
Overview of Whirlpool Max 35 features:
- Curved back helps to save work surface space
- Jet Start system for fast setup
- Jet Defrost system
- 3D distribution system for even cooking
- Auto steam, Auto Control settings
- The interior usable size is equivalent to a 23L regular model and will hold a 28cm plate (according to the designers)
- 700W microwave
- Baby bottle holder for easy reheating
Whirlpool Max 35 Review
The Whirlpool Max 35 microwave has received mainly positive reviews from online buyers. This high ratio of positive ratings shows that the Whirlpool Max 35 is living up to most buyer’s expectations.
Positive features mentioned by reviewers about the Whirlpool Max 35 include:
- Stylish design and convenient shape makes the Whirlpool Max 35 far less dominating on the kitchen counter than other microwaves.
- This makes it perfect for smaller kitchens.
- While the 700W power ratings makes the microwave less powerful than competing models, but for occasionally reheating foods or cooking ready meals it’s more than capable.
- Cooks quietly.
There are some negative comments about the Whirlpool Max 35 microwave though. Some reviewers mention that the low power makes it difficult to cook foods. Downgrading from an 800W or even a 900W microwave to the Whirlpool Max 35 will definitely takesome getting used to. Other negative comments include that the microwave doesn’t fit standard steriliser bottles and that the function buttons can be difficult to use.
Whirlpool Max 35 Conclusion and Rating
While the Whirlpool Max 35 solo and steam microwave certainly has some minor issues, we think it’s an excellent product. Unlike most new microwaves, which are effectively just copies of previous designs with a few new features, Whirlpool have put some real thought into making a microwave for people with limited space. Extra features such as the baby bottle holder, for example, show that a lot of thought has gone into the minor details.
